What triggers it. Many or long category names under a vertical chart, where the axis thins its tick labels to avoid overlap or drops a category axis whose widest name does not fit; a bar whose value label fits neither inside the bar nor in the plot beyond its end; or a quadrant point whose label collides with labels placed before it. target says which, and labels lists exactly what is missing.

How to fix it. Shorten the category names, flip the chart with set_orientation {horizontal: true} so categories run down the side, or widen the value range so labels have room beyond the bars. For a quadrant chart, spread the points, shorten the names, or enlarge the chart.
